Days 20, 21 & 22 Revisited - Hong Kong

So, this is it - the last few (dozen) photos of the holiday, those who have been following this blog may be feeling a sense of relief that they have finally got to the end of one of the most comprehensively reported and photographed family holidays ever.  Personally, I'm a bit sad that this is the end.  Hope you've all enjoyed it and watch this space for the Harris Family In Asia Blog 2015!

Big crabs waiting to be eaten in a restaurant in Kowloon.

Star Ferry crossing to Hong Kong island.

The tram up to the Peak.

George doffs his hat to the King of Pop in tribute.

Watching the cloud rolling in over Hong Kong.

Pictures from around town.

Inside MacDonalds (boo!)

Waiting for the bus back down to the ferry.

Kent gets his eyebrows trimmed at Coast Bar where we met friends.  I'm sure they were most impressed by this unedifying spectacle.

The Last Night in Hong Kong

Days 17, 18 & 19 Revisited - Bangkok

The hotel we stayed at in Bangkok was right by the river (I guess the clue was in the name - Ibis Riverside) and this was the view from the swimming pool area.

On the ferry across the river...

...to get the dinner cruise boat.  Yum.

Wat Arun at night looked way more impressive than it did by day (see pix further on below)

Back on the ferry back to the hotel

And once more onto the ferry the next day to visit the sights.

First stop - The Grand Palace.

Via the market on the jetty - didn't stop to sample any of this - kinda wish we had now.

On the mad, death-defying Tuk-Tuk ride

At the temple of one of those Buddhas - this one standing for a change.

And back on theTuk-Tuk to visit yet another Buddha.

Lily had to cover up because she was wearing shorts.

We did see more Buddhas than you could shake several large sticks at but I think this one was our favourite - huge, golden, reclining with sworly mother-of-pearl toes.

We changed a note for some coins so we could add to the ambience created by the sound of hundreds of coins hitting copper bowls - v, atmospheric.

Wat Arun by day

Off to Kao Thingy.  Forgot the name of the area where all the good T-shirt stalls were, and the Mango Lagoon restaurant where we had best Thai food ever.

At Jim Thompson's House

Boiling up silk worm cocoons to make silk thread.

At the (slightly disappointing) Temple of the Golden Buddha.  This is what £28 million dollars of gold looks like.

George developed a penchant for brightly coloured drinks which did funny things to his tongue.
