We were a bit "meh" about Malacca when we were there but looking back on it now it was really quite a cool place (not literally, of course - it was swelteringly hot, and our negativity towards the place at the time was due largely to the amount of traipsing we did in search of a decent meal, all in 90 degree heat, along narrow roads choked with belching vehicles adding to the oppressive atmosphere).
Outsite the Baba Nonya House
The coolest antique shop in town
The kids eventually got rather fed up of me continually pointing out all the stuff in Malacca that can also be seen in Grandma & Grandpa's house - "WE KNOW MUM, WE'VE SEEN IT".
I wanted to buy this for my shop but it cost loads.
Chinese Temple (one of many we visited on our holiday as you shall see)
None of us was game enough to sample the delights of Durian Cottage - the traffic cone out front was enough to put us off anyway.
We found a shop full of Manga comics and Anne Murray and Duran Duran records. The records were sadly "for display purposes only".
Malacca is home to Malaysia's only ever Mr Universe apparently - this was outside his headquarters.
Flowery trishaws (or are they rickshaws, and what's the difference actually?) They were everywhere and their drivers were a bit aggressive - we didn't have a go.
Another Chinese temple - the most interesting one in Malacca
Malacca Central
Old Church on top of the hill
"Oh look, you can see our hotel from here!"
Old Portuguese Fort
Don't ask
Our second boat-trip of the holiday - the highlight was seeing the huge monitor lizard in the river
Malacca looking like a sleepy little town (traffic curiously absent from this pic)
Bollywood Movie being filmed on the roundabout - we have a minor role in this epic, as curious bystanders.
