Day 2 - Singapore

Today we missed out on swimming, reason being - Dad's alarm didn't go off and the parents didn't get up untill 12pm.  We abruptly jumped out of our slumbers.  With grumbles from sis, Lily 'cos she's a teenager that sleeps untill dinner, eats and goes back to sleep! (Not really!)

Firstly, we caught a cab to Orchad road, the big shopping street, to shop, eat and waste our lives in the thousands of shopping centres.  We got lunch in a little cafe thing called the Toast Box.  We obviously got toast.  Toast with peanut butter on infact! It was nice, but not as nice as the Nanoblock set I got from Action City  In the shopping centre there was a football shop with millions of football shirts in it.  Even ones that I didn't know!   I didn't buy anything in that particular store but I wanted to so much, apart from the Liverpool 3rd kit - bleurgh!

After the shopping centre we went to get a tour bus - first stop was RAFFLES!!  Did you know that Raffles Hotel started out as a bungalow and was then added on to bit by bit until the Japanese refurbished it completely during the war?  Raffles was excellent even though some (mentioning no names) were a bit grouchy.   Then we got back on the bus, which took us around Little India.  We got off again and went into a Hindu Temple.  We had to take our shoes off before we went in.  The temple was amazing, full of noise and atmosphere, filled with statues of gods and goddesses scattered around everywhere.

The next stop was a brilliant record shop that Mum particularly wanted to visit called Vinylicious.  It had loads of good new releases and Mum and Dad bought 2 records by local artists.  By now it was becoming evening And we headed off for MerLion Park to get a river boat cruise.  There was a spectacular skyline of tremendously tall towers, all lit up and a light show from the Marina Bay Sands building which looks like it has a ship on it.  The boat ride was an interesting one but by now we were thinking about dinner so we got off and found a nice restaurant on the riverfront where I had a big plate of Hong Kong style noodles - yum!  Whilst we were eating it began to rain very heavily so we had to move the table away to stop getting wet.

Now it's 11.20pm and time for bed if we have any hope of getting up early for swimming tomorrow - better happen otherwise I'll go ballistic!!!
